More Than Body Care

Mya’s Silky Essence was born from a deeply personal journey. After going through treatment for Stage 3 breast cancer, I experienced changes in my skin that I wasn’t prepared for. My skin became extremely dry and more sensitive, and many of the products I had used before treatment simply no longer worked for me.

Growing up in Sierra Leone, West Africa, shea butter, cocoa butter, and nourishing plant-based oils were a natural part of how our parents and grandparents cared for our skin. So when nothing I tried seemed to work for my changing skin, I went back to my roots—back to the simple, nourishing ingredients that had cared for my skin since childhood.

What began as a search for products that would help me feel comfortable and confident in my own skin again eventually became something much bigger. I started carefully researching ingredients and creating body care products for myself—products that felt rich and luxurious, moisturized my changing skin, and made me feel good using them.

From a Personal Need to Mya’s Silky Essence

What started in my own home as a solution for my changing skin slowly grew into a passion for creating body care that others could enjoy too. I wanted products that didn't just moisturize—I wanted them to feel luxurious, smell beautiful, and turn an everyday routine into something you could genuinely look forward to.

Mya’s Silky Essence became my way of sharing that experience with others. The name carries special meaning, too. MSE is named after my granddaughter, Mya, and represents something I hope to build beyond myself—a legacy created with love, purpose, and intention.

As the founder of Mya’s Silky Essence, I am incredibly grateful for every person who chooses to bring MSE into their home. What began during one of the most challenging seasons of my life has grown into something filled with purpose, and I don’t take that blessing for granted.
